oh damn, real sorry to hear bro, did you have insurance on the car? or does your brother have insurance on the place? Lucky they didn't end up taking anything else like that front mount, the strut tower bar, etc...

That sucks. No idea on the source of that motor noise, but you've got two distinct bad sounds, ticking and knocking. Were either of those happening before you replaced the piston?

yeah no kidding. They were retards. I do have ins. but I don't know if its worth it opening a claim on a set of rims. I might just shop around for a cheap pair so I can get the car running and sell it. Its costing me so much money. I have a baby on the way and a house in mind. Need to get rid of it, however, I don't want to sell my problem to anyone I want to sell a nice clean working STi.

NO, I get misfires in cylinder 2 and 4, and thats the side I took the cylinder head off. I put everything together exactly the way I took it off and used a torque wrench to put everything back. Have no idea. Someone said the injectors might need to be cleaned so ill buy some seafoam and try again. Its discouraging after so much work was put into it.

That cylinder is probably beyond repair if you had rings fragmenting in it. If you're looking to get it fixed and get rid of it, you're going to be better off taking it to a shop for a diagnosis; the diagnosis fee will be worth knowing what needs to be done regardless of who does it. It certainly doesn't sound like a minor issue.
