one of my labs ate a bird...
i'm not sure which one did it, and if it was dead in their dog run or if they killed it, but there was a half eaten bird right next to their water trough.
do i need to take them to the vet or just watch them to see if they act sick?
i do know i'll be keeping an eye on them to see if they commit anymore horiffic acts of murder.

honestly it might not be a bad idea to call the stick cops (fish and game) to test the bird as it sounds like it prolly died and fell into the cage, I don't think your dogs killed it

They will do the testing on the bird and either save you a trip to the vet or at least slim down the testing costs once you get there. I bet it is nothing, but better safe then sorry.

no pics. the remains of the bird (roughly 75% by my estimate, consisting of complete wings, feathers, and assorted chunks of meat) is in a zip loc bag in my trash can.
i called our vet and they said it's nothing to worry about and actually happens all the time. if they act sick i should bring them in though.

My badass cat caught a mole yesterday. I tried to get a pic, but he bolted. He did the flyby to make sure we saw he caught it, but then he retreated to the back corner of the yard to finish it off.
He recently transitioned from a house cat to a inside/outside cat and has lost a TON of weight. He is a hunter now.
