The new '08/'09 Impreza in Road and Track
Is anybody else who has turned to page 24 in the new Road and Track as appalled as I am? The next Impreza is an absolute abomination. Apparently, Subaru is trying to move "upmarket" against the Audi A3 and has decided to change the Impreza from a sedan to a 3/5 door hatchback! I wish I could post a picture of the damn thing, but imagine a short, stubby little El Camino with a camper shell and an idiotic wing and you've got the picture. They've got the STi version depicted and all I can say is that I will never buy anything newer than an '07 if that's what they'll have by '08. They also mentioned that Subaru is not sure that this is the direction they will go in the hatchback unfriendly U.S. All we can do is pray. I think I just vomited in my mouth a bit.

from the looks of that, i wont be trading in my 06 for one unless they have like 400hp from the factory with an even more trick drivetrain than the STI's have now.

you know people said the same thing about the 06 when the pics started coming up. just wait till it comes into production. if you don't like it, don't buy it. get an 04-05. I like the hatch idea. Its different.

It's just a concept sketch. I'd totally buy a 3/5 door hatch regardless of what it looks like if they don't **** with rear visibility, like all the cool looking small hatches currently out.
