Got an e-mail from a buddy with a 2000 outback:

Think it would be possible for you to post the check engine code from my car on your subaru website and see if anyone has any idea what the problem is? I’ll e-mail it to you later. Thanks.
Here is the error code.
TROUBLE CODE OBDII (ALPHA) P CODE
TROUBLESHOOTING P0420
THE PCM HAS DETERMINED THAT THE CATALYST SYSTEM EFFICIENCY FOR BANK 1 IS
BELOW THRESHOLD FOR THE CURRENT ENGINE OPERATING CONDITIONS. (BANK 1
IDENTIFIES THE LOCATION OF CYLINDER #1, WHILE BANK 2 IDENTIFIES THE
CYLINDERS ON THE OPPOSITE BANK)

Looks like his cats might be bad. How many miles does the car have?
I use to always get that error when I ran catless.
EDIT: It may also be the o2 sensor.

i know a few months back he was haveing a O2 sensor going out on him...
