Howdy,
I am driving up to West Sacramento tomorrow from San Jose. Can anyone comment on how bad the commute traffic is going to be from Benicia bridge to West Sac if I am at the Benicia bridge at about 730am?
thanks,

I make that drive (well, Vallejo on 80 instead of 680 to fairfield) every day and that drive at that time should be right around 50 minutes-1 hour. I usually leave my place on 780 (2 minutes from Benicia) at 7:45 and hit my office in Rancho (15 minutes past west sac) by 8:50 or so, unless there's an accident.

won't 5 northbound clog up just south of Sacramento?
If not, then I might take 580 out to 5 and then 5 north.

I've taken I-5 north from the Elk Grove area between 7am and 9am going into the central sac area, and then cut over to the 50/80 going to the Bay Area, you only hit bad traffic on I-5 north if you go past the I-5/50 split, otherwise it moves pretty good IMO. Though, I'm unsure what traffic is like going through the Stockton area. My roommate used to work in Pittsburg and live in Elk Grove, it took him roughly an hour to get to work taking highway 160 following the river.

I ended up just going my original route at my original time. I hit no traffic at all. Smooth sailing!
thanks for all the input.
