My new videocard requires its own PSU connection
You get a more stable voltage. I don't think it is worth the extra mile to have 2, but looking at the way 6 series draw power it may actually help to have 2 PSU connections, specially for 6800 GT and Ultras. They booklet I got with my card recommends to connect 2 separate PSU connections. (i.e. not shared, usually power wires have 2 connectors on them, they recommend using 1 connector per wires set) sounds crazy to me, but like I said, that 6600GT I got made fun of my 250W PSU which only had 1 HD and CD drive connected to it besides the motherboard. When I put in 350W it run just fine. I did try to give the card it’s very own power connection and it worked on 250W as well (or may be I got a crappy 250W PSU). So, I guess it does make a difference.
