Mirth and Merriment Monday
Came to work to find this letter, verbatim, with necessary redactions:
-----
8-3-218
Date: August 1, 2018
To: [the Department]
Re: [unrelated to content of letter]
To whom in may concern, as of May of 2018, [the licensee] is no longer doing [what they are licensed to do]. This is all due to such a huge and uncalled for raise in license fees. As a small business that kind of overheard is unheard of.
I would also like to point out that the huge fee to dispose of [stuff], does not allow me to dispose of if. But I am here to inform you that all [stuff] will remain at the location [licensee] as long as you want it to stay there, we will continue to store it in our storage room that is audited by the state, and we will still have 24/7 security, to maintain safety issues
If you find this unsatisfactory at all, please feel free to come get all of the [stuff] and you all do something with it, it was you all that drove me out of business, so my current plan I submit as of August 1,2018, is either let it stayed stored at the location that has been audited for over 15 years with no issues, or you all come get it and take it anywhere you want as long as you sign for it
Sincerely
[licensee]

Typographical and grammatical errors aside, a little perspective as to why this is amusing: This type of licensee charges their customers a minimum of $10,000 per job and, on average, pull in $25,000 to $30,000 per week to do what they do. Called this morning to "get a quote" and the planner said they were booked up until the end of the year. Do that math. What broke them and drove them out of business? Their license fee, from last year to this, went up by about $2,300.
