1) that point is:
-maintaining a rock solid idle at stoich, smooth low load driving and seamless tip in/transitions
2) yes. again up to a certain point. IIRC ID's can take as much as 100psi base

Pretty much any "Top Tier" rated fuel is fine to use. Yes Top Tier is a bit of a marking scheme and it's an opt in pay for the name testing, but it still has to meet a higher standard than the minimums set by the feds and state.

my problem is that arco is on that list. and while I don't have any definitive evidence proving they suck, but I've heard form several people, some of them employees, saying they "do the very bare minimum" to maintain proper additive packages and meet all the requirements for cleanness, etc.

The most knock I've EVER seen from bad gasoline though, goes to Safeway gasoline lol. Many different cars/times

I used Safeway gas for majority of the WRX's life. I never had any big known issues.

Now ill typically get Shell/Chevron in all the cars, even Civic.

2 main reasons
1- They're on the side of the street on my way to the freeway in the morning.
2- They take CC (Arco does not). Get all the points on my SouthWest card

To me personally, I think they're the "trinket" tools.

You almost never need them, and when you do, generally need a better handle to grip.

Ive got a set or two at work for PC stuff.

Most don't have issues. If you're not pushing the car hard it doesn't even matter. Many have run 87 before and if you stay out of boost its fine. the EJ is super low compression

I make a concoction out of AM/PM 87 octane + 8% nitro RC car fuel and Sherman Williams paint thinner. It has allowed me to get my top speed up to a freeway melting 68.7mph.

I'm going to have to build a motor just so I have an excuse to monitor some stuff with these crazy gauges:
