Maint time...
Had the car 5 weeks as of tomorrow...and my Saturday just got a touch busy......
thanks in advance to all those brains I picked about things, I know she'll ride a ton better with all these in. Hope to find my mystery oil smell. And I need to double check the Kartboy shifter bushings, tranny is so sloppy still.
(Borrowing my parents driveway in Vacaville if anyone is bored lol)

t6? Is it true you are supposed to ween a worn engine onto syn and not go full blast in 1 change?
(the oil was/is the one thing I was not 100% on...)

it only really matters for older vehicles with terrible seals and oil leaks. technically the rotella 5w40 is a little "thicker" anyway. it'll clean out your engine as seen in blackstone lab analyses. you can run 8k on the stuff it's that good. the dixon walmart usually has it for $21.
also, be VERY careful installing those plugs, a slight discrepancy will make your car run terrible. iridiums are finicky. if you need any tools let me know and you can borrow mine or if you need help.
check your valve cover gaskets, now is typically when they leak. they'll look dirty, it usually drips onto the up pipe. it's not a difficult task to accomplish if they need replacing.

Just got back from Walmart with a jug of t6 and a few loose ends. Only thing I forgot is the tranny drain gasket.
Since the history is pretty unknown, I was going to do plugs to cover me till the 105k maint, but should I pick up a better set at the dealer in the AM?
I've wrenched on every car I've owned for over 15 years (BMW/vw/Nissan/Volvo/Chevy/ford/etc) and my dad is an old machinist, so tools we have, but I do have your # in case I hit any walls.
Lol, Vladi, I'm expecting to throw stage 1 on and leave it for a while, not planning on any more motor upgrades, this was cheaper as well

you may need more than a jug of t6 though, they're just over 4qts i think, not 5. i may have some extra.
good luck

I have heard many people say use SUBARU coolant only as other types will eat away at the head gaskets.... and make your metal tubes fromm the turbo corrode. Also I think the system is only 2 gallons.. and you have 2 gallons of concentrate... if you are going to use that... go buy a bottle of distilled water from safeway or albertsons store to make your 50/50 coolant solution.
Also Amazon sells pureone filters for under 6 bucks.. good stuff!!!

Surprisingly the spark plugs were the worst part due to location. I bought double the coolant so I'd have extra and need to do the gf 's car soon too. Also had to run by he dealer this morning so I grabbed a few OEM oil filters and gaskets, along with more t6.
Everything went well, believe the valve cover gaskets are fine, my leak seems to be around the oil filter mounting location, I took pics, but it's the inch thick spacer thing that the filter threads onto. 5 mile run through the country made a drip appear :/

the subaru coolant thing is false. it's actually the conditioner, it makes the coolant more gelatinous which can have adverse affects, subaru does it to cover themselves on any slop. head gaskets will be fine. No corrosion occurs. check Blackstone labs, it would show up.
and yes purolator filters are nice. Remember, the header is near the oil filter and the heat can cause defects to cheap filters, I've seen it happen a few times. oem black filters were good, blue ones are made in Canada by fram, but I'm not sure where your leak would be coming from.

the oil leak is probably coming from your oil cooler o-ring. Its what your oil filter is threaded onto. All you need is a 24mm socket, new oil filter and new oil cooler o-ring to replace it. shouldnt take you more then 30 minutes to replace the o-ring.
