Looking for a new job...

Went to a meeting tonight for Sacramento County Probation association. They told us that our department is laying off 72 positions now, and then another 100 positions in July. Well I won't be cut on the first one, but i will be laid off in July.

I know there is no one anywhere hiring. Totally freaking devistated. So now I feel the blow that eveyone else has been feeling. The sacramento probation department is done for, well the admin bastards will have their jobs, and some people will be demoted, but the grunt workers of course the low man on the totom pole are gone. Some people have been working in the hall for 8-9 years, and they are still going to be laid off. This is so ****ed, I need to drink!

State is still hiring, but my friend that works at Folsom expects to be receiving IOU's instead of paychecks.

Sorry to hear about your job Cale. Welcome to the club.

IOUs instead of paychecks? Can you give the bank and IOU to pay your mortgage payment? I hope we get out of this mess soon, seems like there is more bad news everyday. Legasti, what are you looking to do now?

ironically, golden 1 members can give the bank their IOU's and get an advance on their pay with no interest.

Ask your wife's buddy. Anita has until the first week in March and then she's gone too.

350 laid off (1/2 the company) including my entire department. We all got 60 days pay thanks to the WARN act, which is better than a sharp stick in the eye, but the job outlook is bleak.

It all looked good on paper until the main financial backers backed out.

I may have to trade this pimp job for a job as a pimp...

Dish network is always hiring for installers. 16/hr or 17/hr is good to hold you over while you get a better job. You only work 4 days a week and are still getting 40 plus hours a week.

yeah dude, the memo about that was just passed around my office this afternoon and i immediately wondered if you were one of the people getting cut. unfortunately right now even the government jobs aren't completely stable, i've been wondering if my department is going to have to lay people off this year but so far my department's director has been saying to not worry about it. your job class doesn't have bumping rights does it? you could always try to do an interclass transfer into something else with the County.
