it's just a step towards architecture. i really don't mind the nit picking too much. i was doing some drafting on an internship for an engineering company. i really liked it. i really enjoy the details. any chance your company is looking for an intern?
just realized your in reno. might be a little too far to commute.

Drafting is a great way to pay for school if your company is flexible on the hours, but don’t get caught doing it for the long term.
If you want be an architect, then you need to put yourself in an area where you can go to school first, then find a job. Persueing Architectural drafting will not getting you your license. You need to attend an accredited school for 5-6 years and complete the program. There's no way around that unless you don't care about being NCARB certified. The closest accredited school to Sac is UC Berkeley. You might however, want to check if the local school you’re looking at has a 2-year transfer agreement with the accredited school of architecture.
If your thinking about getting your pre-reqs. out of the way, don't most school have pre-arch classes that are required to get into upper division courses and going the round-about way will significantly lengthen your process.
Trust me I know. I'm struggling with this right now. I want to be an architect, but I don't have my schooling done. I have to relocate to do it.
Just my 2 cents. PM me know if you want any information or have any questions.
