do they make a point and shoot with a CMOS sensor?
Yeah, that's the one I'm getting.
My sister just sent me some photos from a pro-am photographer that just got back from Nepal and didn't feel like dragging along his DSLR, and took that one instead. Granted, he's probably wringing the **** outta that little guy (compared to what I can do) but otherwise, it looks like a killer pns.

We got an Olympus stylus 1030sw it's pretty good. 10mp and is shockproof, freezeproof and waterproof to 35 feet. We got it and put it in the tide pools in Fort Bragg. It was cool. The salt water didn't bother it at all. We just rinsed it off at the end of the day. Also the case is crush resistant. The only problem I have with it is that you have to work to get the lens clean because of it's location behind the sliding lens protector. Water can sit around the edges and needs to be wiped off. Another fun bonus is it also does some video which produces fun and inappropriate video in a swimming pool.

Not at a $200 price point.
Sigma just came out with the DP1, which is the first "DSLR-sized" CMOS in a compact body. Supposedly it kicks ***, but its $800. Might as well get an entry level DSLR for that price.
I think there are a few CMOS p.n.s. cameras out there (Nikon and Panasonic each make at least one IIRC, maybe Canon too), but they are at the $400+ price point, which is more than I wanted to spend right now.
EDIT: Can't seem to find the CMOS based compacts, but I could swear there were a few not-so-great ones out there.
