why not go with a good quality high end MP3 player that ou don't have to mess with iTunes or iPods?
seems to me to be the smarter (and prolly cheaper) route.

I never did really get the whole ipod thing... 90% of my life im either in my car or infront of my computer so i dont really see the need for one?? i dont ride public transpo or fly so?
i just use my 1Gb shuffle for MTB riding.
i'm taking it to Maui for the plane trip but it's kinda worthless for anything but pushing play and listening to the mix, cus finding specific songs on it sux!
i would have never bought one, but this one came w/ the iMac i use at work.
otherwise i just rock streaming radio at work or ripped CDs in the 6-disc in the battle wagon.

Car Info: This aint a bag. It's a shipment.
I like the iPod interface (except the 3rd gen ones with the gay buttons above the wheel).
I'm indifferent about the iTunes interface.
There are a million accessories for the dock style iPods.
I like my current iPod (2nd Gen 20GB) but it's been dormant for a very long time and the battery is starting to suck (it only lasts about 4-5 hours).
I can get an iPod interface for my car. Don't know of other players that do that. (AUX-IN) don't count.
I'm using the tunes on my motorcycle as background music via the helmet intercom.
I take the player off my bike at work and continue to listen to it at work.
I might occasionally partake in the downloading of someone elses rip. That's were MM shined with the naming/tagging.
I could replace the battery. Or I could get a new one.
I tried ephpod pretty early on. It was OK. I'll check out the recomended anapod.
Is there a single player out there (Hardware or software) that actually respects the ID3V2 tags with multiple genres?
Everything I've ran into ignores everything but the first entry.
