recording studio sends music over cheap wiring into recording device.

special pear cables somehow magically allow stuff through that can't be heard on cheap wiring.

Hmnn...

How critical is stereo wire? Assuming it's of proper size and of good quality like monster, is it safe to assume it can carry the same information effectively?

Does the music travel down the wire digitally or like a audible frequency?

Can someone school me, please...

Most often it's an analog signal. I'm not claiming to be an expert, but the way I understand it is the conditioning of the wiring. It can be a critical aspect of the whole stereo. it can be the difference between good speakers sounding excellent or just plain dull.

I know there are a couple people on here who can elaborate much furter on the topic.

Yeah, so good speaker wire can really let a properly setup system shine. It can also reveal weaknesses in your system or in recordings.

I will bet that 99% of people have never really heard a good recording on good equipment setup correctly.

When you have a good setup you can really hear the nuances of a good recording. I have some music that you can hear where in the room each instrument was sitting. The piano and vocalist is in the middle, the cello is in the back on the left, the brass in on the right, guitars in front of the brass, etc.

The better the wire, the more information is transmitted. You can hear where there are holes ie there is not a smooth transition from the mids to the lows or highs or there are drops off of the ends - lows or highs. Wire can also open up the soundstage and make the recording sound "bigger". And not just speaker wire, but interconnects as well.

You would be amazed at how much noise a bad cable layed the wrong way across power cables can let in. It's hard to describe how "clean" things can sound. Power cleaning is another place where sound and video can really get cleaned up. You wouldn't know what you are missing unless you have seen and heard it.

You really don't have to spend much to hear the difference, either. A couple of hundred on good cables (not monster) can make a huge difference.

In the end most people won't care because all they want is huge bass for their movies...

If anyone is curious (not bi-curious) I favor Kimber Kable and Analysis Plus stuff for not-too-expensive-but-a-huge-upgrade in speaker cables and interconnects.

They both feature unique braiding/geometry to block noise and super-high purity wire to aid in transmission.
