The words "midnight" and "noon" don't use am/pm. But the times they represent (12:00:00 am OR pm) must be one or the other. And nobody understands that base 10 counting systems don't change over until the recurrence of "1." Which is why all the simpletons like Johnny and Billy think 12:00:00 is AM.

What you are missing Kevin is that there doesn't need to be an AM or a PM after a time. AM is latin for Ante Meridiem. When it is exactly the meridiem (aka noon), you can't be before it or after it, therefore 12:00:00 PM and 12:00:00 AM are both meaningless. The only reason a lot of places use it is for clarity, and for clarity a majority of the world uses 12:00:00 PM to mean noon.
