How about introducing yourself with "Hi, I'm Matt, I'm here for the 5 o'clock free crack giveaway?"

Our company is massive. The recruiting people are in Atlanta, HR is in SF, etc

Well, that was easy. She basically just asked how long I'd been a UNIX admin and why I thought I would be a fit for the Engineering position. I explained the recent reorg they did, and said "basically, the manager of that group was my manager and they do the work I was doing until the reallignment and that is the kind of work I really enjoyed doing."

She goes..oh, awesome, ok then. And that was that. First interview should be later this week But it's with the woman who was previously my manager and wants to hire me. Last time I had an interview like this the manager didn't even schedule it and just told HR it was all good :rotfl:

Not sure. We did actually spend more time talking about local bars in Atlanta than we did about the actual position and my skillz. See, being an experienced alcoholic (drank in many different states) is a good thing.

Psha, When you start having company meetings at strip clubs, then you can talk.

With this company that will never happen. In fact, we've been told in the past by management that they "strongly prefer" that we not go to lunch at one of the 8 strip clubs just down the street . Your employer is about a gagillion times cooler than mine

Reminds me a time where my shop chief pissed off the commander because we had a going away lunch at Hooters. Apparently crappy food and cheep beer offends people.

lol, so hiring manager (my old manager in fact) for the position came out.

"Well, the recruiter loved you. They're going to schedule you an interview with Kent." (Kent is my biking buddy here). "And if you get past that, then you get to interview with me". I get the feeling this is all a formality.

So I walked over to Kents desk and told him to bring his bike to work and we'll do the interview while riding :rotfl: I got my suit dry cleaned and everything but I don't think I need to worry about it this time. It'd look cool to ride my bike while wearing it though.
