My doctor was very pleased with how well the surgery went. He said he was able to align everything very well, and that I should be 100%, perhaps even stronger, following recovery.

Well, I am a week behind on recovery because the doctor wanted to use internal fixators exclusively for healing my leg. Unfortunately, the external wounds didn't heal well enough:

So, because they didn't heal all the way, I actually ended up with a plate on my fibula (which is where those 15 staples come from), seven screws holding in the plate and holding my bones together, then this external fixator device that is keeping my tibia in place. There is (as shown) a bar going through my heel and two pins (as shown) screwed in to my tibia, then a few bars connecting it to create a frame like so:

I'll be in that thing for the next three weeks, then hard casted for four weeks, then a walking boot and I can start trying to walk again. Full recovery time, basically how long until I can ride my mountain bike again, is about a year.

Here's the x-ray. You can see the breaks spiraling up in both bones and also thei missing chunk on the outside of the tibia there:

Here's how it looked right after the accident:

I don't know who Oscar Goldman is. I'm sure I could Google him, but I feel it would be simpler for me if you just tell me.

oh ok. Well the "stronger than before" thing has actually come from talking with other people that have gone through this same thing.

I love this damn phone...

ATTN: Phister... It works with the car! I dig it. Although, you have to turn it to airport mode if you want it to not get interupted while listing to music, via a phone call.
