i keep getting popups for something called "Winfixer" and it claims to be a spyware blocker and stuff. kind of ironic since the only damn popups i get are theirs. it seems to be "winfuxor".

how do i make it go away?

sounds like spy/adware.
just searching for "winfix blocker" brought up all sorts of antispyware software applications. looks like it is notorious.

winfixer removal help article.

try finding the actual application (name may appear in the task manager when running).
you can search your computer for that file and look at the directory where it is.
if its not an "installed" applicaiton, you can try deleting it from the folder.
if that doesn't work, try searching google for free spyware-adware scan & removal sites.
i've had to use them in the past, but can't recollect any of the site names right now.

last resort, buy a decent spyware blocker. yahoo offers spyware w/ their DSL.


before i switched to Firefox i used to run Stopzilla. it was a really good, free pop-up blocker.

or you could just install Firefox and stop using IE. that solved any problems i ever had.
i won't go back to IE.....evAr!

the pr0n comments are actually kinda funny. my wife's desktop has the popup problems, but all my pr0n viewing i do on my own laptop, and she usually does her pr0n viewing on her own laptop.
