I can't remember where I grabbed it from, but it's definitely helped me understand the WRX intake and exhaust a bit better. I guess you could always check out the dude's web site in the pic.

midnitewrx02 = www.mattrandolph.com ???

Is this the "center exhaust pipe" the same thing as a "midpipe"? It doesn't look that simple...especially the pic where the car is up on a lift. Is it possible to do this with just jacks and jackstands?

no thats not me and yes the center pipe is the down pipe... leave that intact.. just take the rest off

*cprrection* on that pic there is the center pipe and the mid pipe.. which shold be lables "stock down pipe" those 2 pieces u leave intact since they have cats in the... take off the axle back and then the next piece which is basically a straight pipe with a resonator

Removing or bypassing your muffler is illegal. All motor vehicles are required to have a "muffler-type device" and turbos are specifically excluded from the definition of "muffler."

Not in CA, it's legal to drive without a muffler, as long as u can meet emissions and noise level req's. Which is why u keep the stock exhaust around.

The srt-4s come with no mufflers from the factorys. They run straight cats....

Are you serious!? I'd be really interested in seeing some proof behind this. I find it hard to believe.

Look under a stock SRT-4. There's your proof. All they have is a resonator, no mufflers.

I don't really see many SRT-4's nor do I want to give the image that I really care about the car. I'll take your word for it anyway. That's crazy that they did that.

Turbos quiet down an exhaust quite a bit, especially if you've got 2 small pipes the way Neons do.

So will removing the midpipe give a little more power since it mean less air resistance?

as far as I know removing your muffler IS illegal, but as long as it will pass emissions and be under like 93 decibals (not likely ) you should be ok. I disconected mine for a day or so before I got my catback and recieved a few dirty looks from the local constabal so I ended up reconnecting it. To answer your question, yes, it's very very loud.

Not really. The second and third cats are more restrictive than the midpipe or the axleback anyway.
