direct through the hotel chain's website has always worked pretty good for me.

i've almost always gotten better deals direct than through websites like priceline, expedia, travelocity, hotels.com, etc...

also ask if they honor the "government rate" or if your company gets any discounts.

You should hit up the hotel websites. Sometimes they'll have good promos on the site. Since less people are traveling, they'll need all the business they can get.

bingo... "deal" rate is always better through the hotel propper. for regular prices i go through hotels.com
