Wrong, and wrong. As I said, "African-American" refers to a person of African descent. That does not mean they were born in Africa. Visiting Africa would not make me (nor anyone else) African-American, although in theory an application for citizenship/lawful resident status in an African nation would make me American-African...
We're saying the same thing here...I'm making the point that it's wrong to assume that every black person is "African-American".

Having been to Africa has no bearing either way on whether or not a person is African-american. You used a false argument to support a correct statement.

Let me correct myself Herr SUVS, what I should have said is, you can't assume a black person in America is African-American when that person has always lived in America.

You didn't correct yourself though. chanigng your answer =/= correction. The correct correction would be "You can't assume someone is African-American because they have dark skin." Living in America (or at least not in Africa) has no bearing on the correctness of the assumption. Very few African-Americans are born outside of the USA, yet they are still African-American by conventional definition of the term.

And that's what I'm saying is wrong, to assume that everyone with black skin is African-American.

People down in Brazil prefer to be called ****** (Nig-ger), being called "black" is an insult to them. Only here in America are the "blacks" crybabys about what they are called. I don't know about you guys, but if I get called a *******, yankee, etc. I could care less. But when somebody uses the correct term for "blacks," which is ****** (Nig-ger), it's all over the news.

Yep. Except for the part where they throw you into Federal PMITA prison for fraud, since you aren't South African.

If people calling white people "*******" were lynching them with regularity, I'd be sensitive to the term personally...
