Laptop monitor flaked out, is past any retail or manufacturer's warranty, and I know I'm out of pocket some money to fix it. If anyone knows where I could find a cheap lcd screen to replace this one (whether it be new, repaired or used) I would greatly appreciate it. I have no problem taking it apart and putting it back together, which I know saves me some money from labor cost, but I don't really want to spend too much on the parts if I can help it. The computer is a Toshiba Satellite A105 S4094. The computer itself works great when using an external monitor but I need to get this fixed asap as I'll be using it for work soon and can't really afford to buy a new one right now.

Do I need to find the same exact screen or is it possible to use the screen out of other laptops with a 15.4" lcd screen?

I don't know about that but I did find some lcd panels on ebay for around $160 and have a 90 to 120 day warranty but was hoping someone might know of somewhere locally to find components like the lcd for a decent price. I could get it replaced by a shop here in Sac that specializes in lcd repair but they said it'll cost me at least $250 and wouldn't negotiate the price at all. I'm just in a tight spot right now and can only go for something around $150 or less.

*edit* Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was doing some looking and it looks like (based on product numbers) a 15.4" LP154W01-A2 screen from gateway, dell, hp, toshiba and a couple others are compatible replacements.

Ahh did you find it safer/easier to part out the laptops? What's your store on there?

Is it a monitor or just the lcd panel? If its just the panel I doubt it'll work cuz I'm pretty sure mine is a 15.4" monitor. Either way, thanks for the offer.
