They dont really care in my experience.... a motorcycle helmet will work fine. Last time i used a motocross helmet & i was running high 12's. All they really car about is that you have something on your head that resembles a racing helmet.

+12 They only inspect it at the start, if you hand it to them... I always have mine sitting in the back seat, and he asks me if it's approved... I say yes, and he walks to the next car

just called rpm. cheapest dot approved helmet they have is $75. they are all new. walmart's got Bell one's for $50, but the one in my area doesn't carry them. who wants to sell me a helmet? a lil disinfectant goes a long way! hhahaaha

thanks for the help fellas. i think i'm gonna order one off ebay and wait til next week to go. if i'm gonna shell out $60+ i might as well get a style that i like. the one's they have at the cycle shops and walmart look real lame. super dork style! lol there are some nice "german style" ones for the same price on ebay.
