Why the hell would we take these people in that have clearly demonstrated that they are not willing to do anything for themselves? They have nothing to go back to so my guess is that the majority of them will stay here and abuse the system in our state now.

i understand the nature of them wanting to help those in need, but this is not the state for it really, we're already over populated and this isnt going to help by bringing in more people...it would be better if they went to a mid-west state where theres alot of land, hell send them to montana no one lives there practically lol

how are they screening the transplantees?

cus you know some dirty stuff went on down there...don't need to be transplanting baby rappers and murderers into homes across the country with families and kids...
i can see the elderly and seniors...but if you can still work, get them a job or have them help out on the rescue/volunteer teams down there.

As many as 300 evacuees are expected in Sacramento on Thursday or Friday.
That's not that many. If they're going to contribute to the local economy, then they shouldn't be too bad.

That is just the first wave...

If they can contribute, then they should stay and help rebuild their city. We do not have enough work (or even welfare) for the people that live here already. And once they see what it is like to collect government cheese in a city above sea level they will never go back to NO.

Well, if you look at the amount of posting I do and mix that in with a 9-10 hour work day plus the time I put in on weekends, I think my job is secure...

They're not going to contribute to the economy. Last night on the news they already said that putting them in the Sac Convention Center will cost the city million of dollars from lost booking and what not. Don't they they can even contribute to 1% of that.

I'm kinda torn on this. One the one hand they need help, but on the other, there will be murderers and rapists hiding among them. Too bad we can't pick and choose who we want.

One reason I plan on never buying a house in the Sacramento River basin.

Yeah and why do we have to take all these people in? What about Nevada? There's plenty of room there.
