oh ya and i forgot to say that i got my laptop back today!
idk how, but they fixed my original one.. AND because they repaired and didnt replace, my warranty is still good until Aug 09!

all my docs, pics, and music are still on the comp too!

now time to return the external and get my $75 back...damn today is gunna be a good day
