Friday!

when our electricity went out two Fridays ago, the servers have a dedicated power supply so they were still running, our AC died too, so they shut the servers down.... we all got to go home.

I dont even think thats an option for us.... we have ~20 businesses out here running off this server so if we shut this thing down we're basically shutting down recycle rd. Luckily we have a portable AC for emergencies so it should keep everything sub-critical until the AC guys can come out

we had a portable AC, but our IT guy was way too worried about our server. Everyone's files are all on it. For Texas, Austin, our other So Cal office, and this one. So he shut it down to protect all that. But it was funny, only our office got to go home early, and no one could do anything at any of the other offices.

Back in the day I worked on a project for a data center (Digital Island). They had their buildings on two power grids plus generators plus battery rooms. The AC was just as redundant.
