The only reasoning i have been told is that since it ties into a Vacuum line it is not legal.

So everyone with full Defi three pod set ups will need to remove them before going to a reff because you will not pass visual check. also remove the control unit.

This is coming from personal experience at the ref station in Santa Rosa
Been to the ref 3 times with everything from Boost gauges to widebands.. Never had an issue.

Too bad about failing a smog, but I am sure some shop will overlook your controller
"Adjustable" blowoff valves are illegal.. As long as it is recirculated and non-adjustable they will not bother you.

A vented BOV causes a couple issues.. You car runs rich between shifts and can burn out your cat. Affects some cars more than others.. Put a vented BOV on an EVO or DSM and it will alsmot stall between shifts. Multiply that over 20 or 30k miles and byebye cat. Had a guy I know do that and get pissed when the dealer refused to warranty the cat.. Duh..

Also, modified intercooler piping and intercoolers on factory turbo equipped vehicles are exempt and completely legal..

I've passed the state ref with massive front mounts..

I get 1 free retest at the place I went to. How should I go about this? Hide the controller? Disconnect the vacuum lines?

Even with a free retest, I wouldn't take it back to the same place. It's likely that the smog tech will remember you and your car.

Just go to another smog test place. Shops in shady neighborhoods or those operated by guys who barely speak English are usually more lax.
