Direct TV can kiss my left butt cheek.

I cancelled my service on 1/11 and switched to cable. The lady at DirectTV tried very hard to convince me to stay, but I politely declined.

I mailed off my January payment.

During the second week of February, I get a late notice from DirectTV for my January bill.

I call on 2/17 and ask what is going on. Seems they applied my January payment to the February bill, despite the check being sent in with the payment stub that clearly identified it as January. The custoemr service guy says he'll switch it to January and send me a new bill for February. I told him I had cancelled in January to which he replied there was nothing in the system. He assured me it would all be corrected and I would get a final correction statement in the mail.

When I got that statement, it showed they applied the bill to January and then charged me for February (up to 2/17 when I called). When I say charge, I mean they charged my Visa, without my authorization, for the $30. The only reason they have my number on file is because when I upgraded to DVR I had to prepay for the equipment.

I called immediately and got no answers. All they would tell me is that I never called in January. I insisted that I be refunded for February and the lady told me that someone from the "back room" would have to call me back.

They never called.

I called again a week later to get some woman who did not speak english well and had a bad attitude. She refused to do anything for me and when I became irate, she said a manager would call me back. I told her that if I did not get a call back within 24 hours, I would call my cc company and report the charges as fraudulent. No one ever called.

F them in the A. I will never use DTV again and I encourage anyone I talk to to avoid them at all costs. It may only be $30 they screwed me out of, but it's the principle of the matter. I'm still considering calling my cc company, but I don't know if the $30 is worth the potential of being put into collections by DirectTV.

Oh, and get this - they called last night with one of those "come back" offers. I was outside planting but as soon as my wife told the caller about my problems, they quickly said have a ncie day and hung up. How about that for customer service?

DirectTV can DIAF.

well my experience with comcast has not been fun. I've gone through 3 HD DVR recievers in 1 year and their customer service is terrible one of recievers took a week and a half to be replaced

Of course Direct TV made their first **** up this morning by neglecting to inform me when I called to establish service that I would need a letter of authorization from my landlord to install the satelite onto the house i rent after I told them I was a renter. I did get another $10 off my bill every month though after yelling at the customer service agent.

I dont think there is a good tv provider out there......at least not in my area

I have heard so many stories like this, the only reason I am still with them is that (as far as I know) they are my only option if I want eleventy billion Fox Sports channels and the NHL package...

Direct TV blows. I have Dish and got my parents to switch to dish from direct. DTV was charging them the same price a month (out of contract) for the basic service as you could get their "everything and an HD DVR pack" if you were a NEW customer. If you ARE a NEW customer they have this nice number you can call 24/7/365 where someone greets you and blows smoke in your A, speaks perfect english and promises you the world.

If you are an existing customer its "Sorry you have reached the Customer Service department. Congradulations on getting this far, you have passed the robot phone directory test and have mistakenly been directed here. Shanikwa is busy and so is everyone in India, your wait time is 900min. We only work 12-5 pm EST mon-thursday, no holidays, and no one speaks english. Call back when convenient and have a nice day. Ps we F'd you in the A, Love DTV."

Yeah they need to DIAF. To cancel my parents service for them, I literally had to ask "can I speak to a manger" no less than 3 times.

On a lighter note, whats the haps on the craps?
