Dumbest question/thing you've ever heard?
A few years ago we had this intern from a tech school in the Marysville area. He was going to school there to learn how to be a programmer so he could get in to the gaming industry. We brought him on to learn about a production environment and help us with some systems monitoring tools.
On one of his first days, he was doing some of his homework (which was allowed under the intern program) and he gets to a question where he's stumped. He looks at me and one other guy in our group and goes "hey, guys, what is that programming thing..it uh, isn't constant or static, but it can change..va..something?"
We just look at him and go "a variable?
" and he's like "YEAH THAT'S IT!!"
Keep in mind he was a second year student. Idiot.
So what's the dumbest thing you've heard someone ask in person?

I was in an upper div physical chem class. The prof went through a derivation on the board that took 45 minutes out of the 50 minute class. It involved a bunch of calculus. The first step in the derivation was a simple distribution [ x(A+B)-->xA +xB ].
And sure enough, the first question asked is 'How did you get from the first line to the second line.'

Me: That white one over there.
