Discovery's Planet Earth miniseries

http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence...net-earth.html

Anybody else checking these out? I'm recording them partly because I just like these kinds of documentaries, and partly out of curiosity at how they are pulling off such a large-scope production. Some of the shots just int he previews are amazing. Makes me wish I had HD.

They're really well done. The 11 part series will be $80 from Discovery on DVD in late April; I'm picking it up for postereity because they really do have some amazing stuff in here. The DVD's are a great option if you tivo'd them on lower quality, or don't have HD tuners but have a good player, etc.

Damn it, I saw all the amazing advertisments, and I missed it... Is it still going on at all? I'll probably just end up picking up the DVD.

I have caught a couple of episodes. I have it set for series record on the DVR. I am very impressed. This was a huge undertaking. In HD, absolutely amazing.

It could be untrue but someone told me that it took more than 6 years to collect al of the desired footage to make it. When it is on?

I can believe that. It's running on discovery all week, and will probably be re-running endlessly all summer.
