th only problem I've had with Wells Fargo is this:

opened up the checking account and the lady said "do you want overdraft protection? if you dont have money in your checking account, we'll take the money out of your savings to cover any spending" I said yes even though I didnt think I'd ever need it.

After a while I had ot spend some money and knew I'd get close to zero bucks in checking but I knew the savings would cover me....it didnt and I got charged overdraft fees up the ****. I went in to my local branch and the lady had never activated the feature! The guy then activated it and removed the oversraft fees for me.

Later I needed to use the feature again...and I knew this time it was activated....however, when I looked online they charged $10 each day they had to transfer MY money! The accumulated the daily spending and transfered that at the end of the day...but charged money to tranfer my own damn money!

I bank at a bay area credit union. I get reimbursed for the fees the other banks charge to use their ATMs. Every ATM is my ATM.

Money Market account FTW. As with Dan, every ATM is my ATM. The only downside is that I have to mail deposits to NY (thank God for direct deposit at work).

I've been with bofa forever, never really had any problems.

My mom is actually a branch manager for bofa, and when I asked her about checks being "lost" in the atms, she said that people always come in trying to scam free money by saying that.

It still boggles my mind that people still have reasons to go into a branch...

I deposite my check into the branch because I feel that there is some security in watching a person take my check. I have a receipt and they have a video camera showing them making a transaction. I don't deposite a lot of checks, but when I do I'd hate to get it "lost".

I've also had a bank of america account. I haven't had any significant issues, but I hate their phone system. I heard several stories about people being screwed by Bank of America and couple of them have been close friends. I only got a personal checking account through them because they were located in on the first floor of the building that I worked at in Reno.

I also had a credit card through Bank of America with an amazing 36% interest rate. Fricken Jerks!

I switched to Washington Mutual, because Josh is there are has had no problems. Only issue with that is there is no branch in Reno. Which hurts when I want to deposit funds while I'm up there.

I can walk into most other credit union branches. I've never had a regular bank account and I don't see why anyone would. Fees up the wazooo.

My Grandfather had his identity completely stolen from him because of a mishap on BofA's behalf... took two years to fix everything and they eventually caught the two responsible

Then again he has sued BofA for the win before too, but that was a major screw up, nothing petty like the OP.

Really you are going to get pissed at any bank at any point in time. I love BofA for the simple fact that it cost me nothing to ever bank there, no fees, online bill pay, nothing at all. That is unless I mess up.

The ny thng that ever bothered me about BofA is that they keep all CA account seperate. That only sucks when you happen to live in Las Vegas and the person who feds you money lives in Sacramento. Since the account was open in CA you could only make ATM deposits in CA. It made it an extra PITA to deposite the random check I earned in Vegas.
