BAM XIII: Sacramento Caravan
#249
DISCLAIMER!! I am not placing blame on anyone. This years caravan wasn't as much fun for me as two years ago. Maybe it's that my expectations were so high and I was really looking forward to having a bad *** caravan. Either way I figured I'd do a "lessons learned" type of deal like we do in the military to improve it for next year.
Doing two lanes didn't work out as expected so a single lane is my recomendation. preferably taking over the middle lane on a three lane highway.
Starting the caravan up is getting more and more difficult each year because it grows and its so much fun. This of course led to not everyone being able to leave Fry's parking lot on one light. This in turn causes those at the back to hurry up to catch up. I would recommend that the lead car and the designated last car have communication so once everyone is on the highway we can all get lined up and cruise as a group.
To me the coolest part of the caravan is the look on peoples faces as we either pass them or get passed by them. Once they realize an assload of Subaru's 30+ deep is rolling they are shocked. The best way that I see to do this once everyone is grouped up is too either go 3-5 mph slower than the posted limit or do 65mph the whole way. The reason I recommend this is because it should minimize lane changes, allow everyone to cruise at a comfertable pace and not attract anymore LOE attention than 30+ Subaru's with wings, 3" DP's and catless systems will attract.
And the final thing is a pit stop. At the end of this trip i was ready to **** out the window into oncoming traffic. With older bladders + too much coffee+stiff suspension=no bueno on the bladder.
These are just my ideas to possibly improve the caravan for next year. I had a good time and like I said I'm not laying blame anywhere on anyone. It isn't easy organizing a caravan. Thomas and Cory did a fine job.

Ya ive already got a couple ideas on how to improve the departure from Frys.
This year by far was the largest, and somewhat didnt think it would be this large. Might even look into another spot to meet up with easy access to the freeway/location for people to meet up.
