Car Info: Soon to be a 2011 WRX?
So my poor abused WRX (~130k miles) burnt through the pressure hose on the power steering system this past weekend. So I gave my local dealership a buzz to see how much the hose would. My local dealership is Autowest who promptly gave me a quote of 359.62(for the part, ALONE); I was freaking appalled considering it's a hose that runs into a metal lines. Is it a specialty part? Yes it is... but still that's a lot of money.
So I asked the guy about the price, and he tells me that it sells as a kit with both hoses. OK, that works, but it's still a ton of money, so I decided to pay a visit to Paul at DB Tuned, who as usual was friendly and helpful (thanks dude.) Anyway, I call the next day wondering if I had a person that was mistaken. Inflation must be a problem right now because within 24 hours that price had gone from 359 and change to 375 and change.
Do these jerks just choose an arbitrary number and set that as the price they intend upon raping you for? Is there any system to it, or do they just try to see what they can get away with?
I called him out on the fact that they had marked up the price of Subaru's suggested retail price by 100+ dollars and the guy on the phone was falling over himself. I kinda feel bad for him, because chances are that it's not his choice, however I did ask him to have the Sales Manager give me a call back who I fully intend upon voicing my opinion to.
I spoke with Gold Rush today and they quoted me the same suggested retail price. EDIT: Gold Rush quoted me THE CORRECT list price which was 262 dollars and change, not the 100+ markup the ****heads at Autowest quoted me.
Guess who WON'T be getting my business for parts or cars... Congratulations Autowest Subaru, I will smear your name for your dirty business practice at any opportunity I find.
One more thing... Thanks again Paul.

Firstly...if that's a word...thanks for the lovely words.
2ndly, don't get pissed at AutoWest for trying to make money. They were charging "what the market will" price.
Call me to discuss pricing.

Had a similar experience when I was having suspension work done on my astro van. the place I was going too have the work done quoted me a price. I did some research and found that they marked the price up by 100%......WTF?
Called them on it and they said that they did not need to discuss their pricing policies with me. I reported them to the BBB.

I've done business with http://www.subaruparts.com/ very recently, and I was very satisfied with their service.
