Any place match tire prices?

I heard that America's Tire Co. matches prices...has anyone done this? I plan on taking a website print out to America's and try to match Edge Racing's $99 deal on some Hankook rs-2.

OK, here's the deal. I sold tires for Sears Auto Center for about three years. While I was working there they came up with their "Price Match Guarantee". One of the exclusions was that the price match had to be with a brick-and-mortar business. In addition, the price match had to be for the complete package (tires, stems, mount, balance, road hazard warranty, disposal fees, etc. before taxes), they would not price match just the tire or just the road hazard policy. This may still apply, and it may very well apply to other tire dealers. Call around and find out.

Also, most price matches have to be for the same product, not for one of "similar quality". If you try to price match a tire at a place that doesn't carry that tire, you're out of luck. Once again, call and find out.

Because shipping tires is expensive and takes longer than driving to a tire store.

Since BAN SUV'S mentioned shipping, you might take into consideration whether or not the tire store you want to get the price match done at will add the shipping cost of the tires from the Internet store into their quote.

Theoretically speaking, if the brick-and-mortar tire store stocks the tires you want, it would only make sense that you can't forgo the potential shipping cost of the tires, unless you want to drive out to the warehouse of the Internet store to pick them up.

While I know this won't be a factor in your particluar case, I feel I must mention this next part for other potential tire customers. When I worked at Sears and someone brought in a quote from a club store such as Costco, my manager instructed us to factor in the cost of one year's membership, since you could not buy tires from such a store without being an active member.

As I've said before, it's been awhile since I have been in the business, but don't be surprised if either one of these factors is used to calculate a price match quote at a brick-and-mortar tire store. I hope some of this information has been useful.
