I checking to see if there is any Suby Fanatics out there that go for regular rides in the area.
I'm looking to find some folks who want to do weekly or bi-weekly rides on the weekends. I need to get back in shape....(getting a little round in the middle), and it deffinately no fun riding all alone. Plus it's another way to get together with other Suby owners and also get in shape at the same time.
SO anyone interested???
Cheers

I have a bike and I have been riding it more frequently lately. I don't do any regular rides though. Problem is that a ride on trails seems like it would take up a good portion of the day and usually I've got stuff going on durin the weekend.
Where would you want to ride?

ooh, ooh, ooh...pick me, pick me.
i don't ride on a scheduled basis...
but i do try to go out as often as i can...
i'm in placerville...i ride the top portion of the lame-o bike trial thru town often (approx 11miles round trip), since it's across the street from my house...
but i try to get out and do Sly Park when i can...
my buddy in Cameron who i ride with does Salmon Falls like every weekend...
he keeps trying to get me down there...
we're just never avail on the same days or we go someplace else.
we also did Fleming Meadows (past Sly Park up Iron Mt Rd a bit)
that was super fun...but i thought i was gonna die!
need to ride more often before i tackle those climbs at that altitude.
hit me in the privates, i'll get you my contact info if you wanna come up to this neck of the woods...
emphasis on woods.

I mountain bike, albeit not as regularly as I would like. We should all get together one Saturday and hit the Olmstead Loop in Cool or the FDLT.

i just got my bike the beginning of the summer and adding local trails to my list is always welcome!
there's a few good trails up in the Icehouse area also...but some are "off limits" to MTBs.

Olmstead Loop starts in Cool just behind the fire station:

Foresthill Divide Loop Trail (FDTL) is relatively new and is my personal favorite:

i'm itching for the Cool loop now...
and when i get a chance...i'll hit the Forest Hill one also...
Forest Hill looks flat...good for those days you're in the mood for flat out XC!
thanks for the tips!!!!

FDTL is not flat. Depending on where you park and start, it can be slightly downhill for a long ways in the beginning, followed by steep climbs, then a nice long bomb down a fire road, and finally a switchback climb back to the car.
Cool has two tough hills but is otherwise pretty straightforward. It's only about 9-10 miles for what I remember so you can do it in an hour. Just watch out for the equestrians.

I Hate Horses!!!!
and the snobby wretches who ride them!
we came across a few up at Flemming Meadows...
that trail has some steep drops & we were going as fast as 23mph...
we never even thought about flighing solo into Mr Ed until we were on a climb portion and one came by the other direction...
we were stopped in a wide flat section on one of the climbs
the uppity old lady riding looks at my buddy, who's got his bike about 5 feet off the trail on the ground, and she says all snotty..."you'd better pick up your little bike there sonny (i think she actually called him sonny!) before it spookes my horse!"
WTH!?!?
are horses scared of bikes like elephants are of mice????!?!??
GO BE GLUE! and stay off my trail!
bit my toungue tring not to spout off at her.
what an old bitty!
speaking of which...[rant]
in "proper textbook trail ediquite"...
why is it that bikes have to yield to every thing else on the freaking trail?!???!?!?
if you are a hiker, it's much easier to step off to the side, than for me to stop on a climb and step off my bike and let them by then remount my bike and start again w/ zero momentium....
and don't even think about it riding w/ clips....[/rant]
sorry just had to get that off my chest...feeling better now.
