Congrats! Not a newlywed, but I went to a wedding reception in French Camp (south of Stockton) that was awesome. Place is called the River Mill: http://www.therivermill.com/photo_galleries.htm
It's kind of a random place, but once you get there it's and understandable destination. Delta Breezes help in the Spring/Summer too. Good luck.

We got married at the Serrano country club about 3 years ago in El Dorado Hills. I thought it was a nice venue and relatively decent price for what you get. When you talk to them they also have some pretty nice "preferred vendors" that supposedly know how the place runs to make things go a bit smoother. I included a couple pics that were taken at my wedding. Hopefully they work.

i went to a wedding last week. and it was the perfect venue, they take care of catering, and the open bar situtation. and the photographer i believe. it is in Newcastle, but it is the perfect setting.

If you chose to be married by some pretty lake do so during the cooler months or be sure to get the entire beach area closed on each side as far as the eye can see. Cousin got married at Tahoe in early spring and had a leathery-skinned beach-bum casually hiking by carrying a walking stick in only a speedo. He thought it was cool to stop and watch the ceremony from 50 feet away. It wasn't even a public beach area as it had all rocks.
