I need advice.
Nondiscriminatory advice from everyone and anyone willing to give an explanation for your opinion on a quite serious dilemna I'm facing.
I have an opportunity to purchase a seemingly ideal home for well under the asking price (50+k) and have another 25-45k in realtor fees, closing costs, carpet, paint, etc and contingent on the sale of our townhouse deducted from the cost.
Here's the kicker...
Some chick murdered her husband in it. She's spending a life sentance in prison right now, and claimed it was a suicide but was still convicted by a jury.
It's probably worth about 75k more than we'd end up getting it for. I heard there was a statute of limitations for any kind of informational disclosure like that of three years, it's been two and a half or so, my father in law is an investigator for the DA's office, that's the only reason we knew about it. Is there a don't askk, don't tell policy after a certain period of time or what?
What would you do ?

Hey. I think think there is a law that says that you have to disclose information like that. My mom is a realtor and I think I asked about it once. I am not sure if the time frame thingy applies or not.

Yeah, I know you have to disclose it but I've been told by a couple people taht there is only a certain period of time that you have to.
I just want to know if it's gonna be a pita to sell in a year ot two after I'm done remodeling it. The murder happened in 2.5 years ago From what I was told if it happened more than three years ago you aren't obligated to disclose it.

The people were in thier late 70's.
She blasted him two days after he found out she was having an affair and forged a suicide letter. I'm still trying to find out where it happened though.

Is it a wood floor? It'd probably still be stained in the spot. I found a few blood stains soaked into the hardwood in my "new" fixer upper.

When I was a kid we lived in a house where a child had commited suicide. With a shotgun. In the closet in my bedroom. My parents didn't know about it until they went to sell (which was after the disclosure law had been passed) - the realtor when they bought never said a word.
If no one had told us we'd have never known.

are you supertstitious? do you believe in ghosts? heh. if you do... then f'it! death houses are way too creepy to live in.
if you dont.. then its a pretty good deal on a home. just dont tell us which room the murder occured in when the party goes to your place.

Just do it. It probably isn't haunted. She shot him, she didn't stab him to death all over the house while he tried to crawl away.BANG>dead>$$$>the end.
