Unhappy 1/4 mile, whats going on!

Hello

So I took my 2004 WRX put a full 3 in exhaust by Random Technology (includes all high flow cats) http://www.randomtechnology.com/ then added a GFB Blow off valve and AME cold air intake. Next I had the car dynoed and tuned at Alfa’s and Subaru’s of Sacramento (formally known as S-Squared). I ended up with 195 Whp.

So when I went to the drag strip in Sacramento and ran a 14.65 with a reaction time of .543, ok what the hell.

I swore when I had the car stock I ran a 14.5 and now it seams that I can’t get under a 14.6. I did find a small problem with the blow off valve. I did not have the return air pipe clamed down so I was probably leaking air but I did not think that would effect the car's time so much. I went ahead and put the stock valve back on and will re-run the car this coming Wednesday.

In the mean time I raced my friends stock 2002 WRX and I only seamed to pull away from him a little bit. So here is my question. What do think of the 14.6 time? Is this slow as hell for these mods or am I nuts? What do you have in your WRX and what are your 1/4 mile times.

Last time I was at the track I saw lots of WRX's with times in the 14.4 or lower but then again I don’t know what they had done to there cars.

These two mods do next to nothing (worthwhile).

Your latest E.T. doesn't tell me much. What was your trap speed as printed on your time slip (at least down to tenths of a mph), both before and after mods? MPH is a better indicator of your power to weight ratio. E.T. is less consistent.

for help you need to include the following off your timeslips: E.T., trap speed, and 60ft time(indicated as I1 on the slip). reaction time means nothing because the clock doesnt start until you go.

Ok well i dont have that information so i will post it here when I do after Wensday :-(

Other then that you all dont have any ideas of what a Normal WRX runs in the 1/4 mile?

And as for the comment about the mods I have doing next to nothing, well i cant really beleve that becuse 40 more whp on the dyno is 40 my whp no mater how you got it.

The WRX varies quite a bit in output from the factory, more so than most other cars. Taking into account driver skillz at the drags, my own car was a complete dog, turning high-15s when bone stock with just a couple of thousand miles on the clock. Other owners report times from the low-14s to the low-15s stock.

Your free-flowing exhaust and Nate's tuning is what made the power improvement in your car. I don't believe in using blow-off valves for low boost applications - it's a cop-caller. I like the sound myself, but I just don't wanna be pulled over.

I will be at the drags this coming Wednesday.

Nate said that he hurd nothing wrong with the car when he drove it so I dont think i have a leek and my gages sure dont show one.

Nate is great putting up with my stupid questions, being that this is my first turbo charged car I am not use to all the sounds it makes and some times wonder if I have broken something. But he asures me that the car sounds and acts fine.

Its a manual and yes it had the BOV and intake and everything eles that I have now on the car when it was tuned.

As for thge BOV, ya it a pice of doodo. Made my car run bad and I took it off last week. I will never put it back on. When i get a new turbo then maybe I will get a new one from a diffrent company. Probubly sell the GFB BOV on e-bay soon!

Thanks for the post Wingless Wonder that helps. I still dont see how I lost time but this Wensday I will be able to tell you all more. BUt just knowing there is a wide track times for WRX puts my mind a little bit at ease. Still I think I should be closer to 14.2 or 14.3 at this point.

Maybe link some threads (I know I know that would require you to be helpfull) and help the OP out instead of the standard "use the search you noob LoLz!!!!" type of post

To post a pic (this is if you have it hosted somewhere already) use the [.img] URL HERE [./url] (without the .'s of course)

If you want to attach the image, there is the option below (when you are replying or starting a thread) labeled "manage attachments" and you can upload the picture to iclub and have it posted in your thread
