05 Sti problem.. Help please.

Hey I-club!

So I started my car up yesterday. When I turn the steering wheel it almost feels like the power steering is out, it's kinda hard to turn. The weirdest part though is when I turn the wheel a bunch of lights on my cluster come on. Cruise light flashes. Brake light comes on, diff light comes on and the airbag light as well.

Any clue as to what this issue could be? I don't want to drive it because I feel like it is a safety issue. Thanks for the help guys.

the "no power steering" feeling sounds like compressor is either going out or dead, or there's air in the system.
the other issue sounds like you may have an electrical short somewhere near the clockspring or steering column.

good luck

Check the pump first, including the rubber o-rings for minor leaks. Then for air in the system as stated previously as I had almost exactly the same issue years ago with both of the prior issues occurring. But I only threw one idiot light, so with all those popping up it may be a deeper issue. Good luck solving the problem

ya it's so odd to me. I don't see how air could have got in the line, I've never messed with it.

It just happened randomly, I have only had the car for about a month now. Never touched the power steering. It's been fine until Saturday morning.

Now check engine light popped on and the drive belts are squeaking. Vladi if you happen to have a obd2 cel code reader can you bring that as well?

Did you check the belt? Your symptoms match a toasted belt - makes noise, doesn't turn the accessories, and random dash lights is what you see when running voltage is way low. The alt and ps pump share a belt.

If not, I have a obd2 code reader you can use to diagnose. Don't know if I could be of more help than that, but PM if necessary
