Turboing your 2.2 or 2.5?
Just thought I'd let you guys know that I just rebuilt my 2.2L, and turboed it myself, so if anyone wants info on anything related to this, feel free to ask. I've been on I-club for a while, but not in this forum, so good luck!! Subies Rule

Wes,
It all depends on how much power/hassle you want. 2.2's are the engine with the most options, because they share so many characteristics with the 91-94 2.2 Legacy turbo. The easiest way is to buy a premade turbo kit from Ludespeed or one of the other manuf. out there, but your power is limited to about 7 psi safely, which is in the neighborhood of 210-220 hp. I used my block, and put Legacy turbo heads on it, and assembled my own turbo kit from mostly WRX and Legacy parts. I have so far been boosting 10 psi consistently, which is around 240-250 hp. But it was more expensive, and even more importantly: much more tuning.

as of right now, I'm just speculating, but I'm all up for more tuning. Right now I don't have the resources(money) to do this. I figured I'd be able to turbo my 2.2 with parts from a wrx, but for now I'm just gathering information. Thanks

1st I know I'm no where near the Rocky Mts. but ....
So how much would it cost (more or less) to get my 2.2L turboed? I know that its not cheap and I am not even sure all the different parts I would need or that would be a good idea to get w/ turbo.
Do you think finding a Legacy 2.2L turbo engine and drop it in my MY97 Outback Sport would work or is that even possible?
I don't know a lot about turbo (as if you couldn't tell)
, any help would be much appreciated.

Well, anything is possible with enough dough. The cheapest and easiest way to do it is with a turbo kit from one of the companies around the internet. Plan on spending 4-6 grand after install, clutch, etc... You can drop a Legacy 2.2L in there, but it's going to cost you all of the above, plus another 2-3 grand, at least. It's all worth it if you got the $$, though!!
