I think this is a great idea. If we had our own site we would have a place where everyone could gather, talk, and organize meets. We should seriously do this.

We need to set up some sort of donation fund though for this. Though I am willing to set the whole thing up, I cant fund the whole thing (i'm a poor student

When I get home later I will look into prices of server space, and possibly a template for building the site so we can have all the things there that we want. Heres what I think we will want on the site (feel free to add things)

-VBuliten forums
-Members page where people can post up their car's and pics of their cars
-Gallery for both members car's and also just to post random pics that we have found
-Video section possibly?

-search

How much bandwith per month and how much space do you all think we will need for this? Once i know that then i can start server space shopping.

I don't think a videos or link section is nessecary. Just the Forums. then you can have a pictures forum or whatever. Is the search function in the forum software or...?

 

the mac G5 server is fairly cheap. if we all could chip ina bit, we could probably get one. And if you need somewhere to put it/someone to operate it, i never have anything to do, and have a space that is whining for a server...
