ok, i just picked up the car. pictures will be up soon.
quick question...or advice...the dealer told me i should put 85 octane in the car because we're at a higher altitude. just wanted to check with you guys to see if she's crazy or not. manual says at least 91.

Stick with the 91. By going the 85 route, due to the difference in elevation you MAY get a lower absolute pressure and lower compression in your cylinder which translates to a lower temperature. Your computer will retard your timing to prevent knock. This will cost you performance. In general the higher the octane rating the more your turbo will return the love. There are a few that would have to say a little more than I. This is my $.02

rant...
thanks. i have a dilemma. when i picked up the car earlier, i thought the car looked a little light in color. but i've seen the steel gray in person before and it was only a touch darker than the crystal gray metallic. and without a side by side comparison coupled with my excitement of picking up my new ride, i figured it was just the lighting or whatever. come home, do some research...not to mention found the sheet with all the info of the car (is this called the window sticker? where it shows all the standard features, MSRP and city/highway MPG) it says on the top CRYSTAL GRAY METALLIC. i panic and look under the hood for the color code. color code = 48W...search frantically online and yep...it's crystal gray. wtf. i specifically asked for steel gray and the saleslady looked it up with the code and whatnot. i kept repeating steel gray. and she even said "yes, we'll get you the steel gray" it's too late to call them right now but is there anything i can do about this or am i stuck with CGM??

Hmm, you might be screwed. Does the VIN on your sales contract match the VIN on your vehicle? The colors are pretty close. Who knows, maybe they messed up? I doubt it though. If your sales person is honest, and has any sort of short term memory you might be ok. I'd go down there. Don't let them CONVINCE you that the colors are close because you won't get what you want. Here's $.02 more, CGM is a really nice color.

it's all settling in now. actually, CGM isn't bad and i think i can live with it...it just wasn't my first choice and i had stressed i wanted steel gray as soon as i walked into the dealership. yes, the vin # matches the bill of sale...which leads me to believe that i am stuck with this. i will still call the dealership and see what they say.
