Jeff Gordon is one amazing Driver

Jeff Gordon, was out in front almost the whole day.
I have never been to a NASCAR event before, but I have to say, I was very impressed. Too tired to post everything, I will do a proper write up with all the pics and vids later.

Even though I'm not a NASCAR fan, I would have to agree that Jeff Gordon is a good driver. He actually grew up as a go-kart racer rather than a oval track guy, so road courses are nothing new to him.

I am a huge NASCAR fan and TV doesn't do the sport justice. To be there is a totally different ball game. Last year was my first race. I went to Charlotte. Even though it got rained out, I had an awesome time. Actually that race was what made me decide on my WRX. I know what your saying "how can someone decide on a WRX when all you see is Chevys, Fords, and Dodges going around the track. Well to make a long story short, the previous week to the race, I had put some money down at the dealer for them to hold my WRX so I can think about it and be sure that was the car I wanted. That same week there was 5 or 6 days straight of rain in Charlotte. My girlfriend just bought a new Cavalier and that is what we took to the race. After the race was rained out, where we were parked was an old corn field and it was a muddy mess. All night we sat in the parking lot waiting for it to clear out. There were big trucks with mudders having a hard time getting out of the muddy lot. Then I saw a WRX and thought "this will be fun." The little Subie embarrased the hell out of the trucks climbing through that mud not spinning one tire the whole time. He climbed right out and went on his merry way. I sat there in awe. As soon as I got home, I called the dealer and said the famous three words "I'll take it." I am not a Jeff Gordon fan but he does seem to do great at the road courses. I am more of a DEI fan. It's good to see there are more NASCAR fans in the Subie community. Sorry this is so long. I had to tell my story.

Good Subie story. Like I said, this was my first NASCAR event. I did not have a favorite except that Jeff Gordon was the track local. Yeah, I always loved passing all the trucks driving up to Mt. Bachelor when I lived in Bend, Oregon. My buddies legacy wagon was reason I have owned 3 subies.

I too am a huge NASCAR fan. I've been an avid fan of the sport for about 5 years now, and have been to I think 6 races. TV doesn't do it justice at all. It's amazing to be there to hear and feel the rumble of those cars. Once you witness them in person, you are hooked. I'm also a DEI fan at heart, but I have great respect for all of the drivers, Gordon being one of the exceptional ones, and teams. People may think it's weird that I'm into the sport compact scene and NASCAR, but I'm just a fan of cars in general. I don't care what kind of car it is - if it goes fast and is continually tweaked to make it the best it can be, I'm a fan.
