Jeff Gordon likes Formula One...

Gordon turning a fast lap of 1:16.5 in the Williams. For comparison, Montoya qualified fourth last year for the U.S. Grand Prix at 1:11.414.

So Gordon’s time was quite respectable for his first time behind the wheel of an F1 car.
“I can't imagine what it would be like with 16 guys out there," Gordon said. "Oh my God. The cars, the pitch of the engines, the traction control, the launch, everything they have, and that long straightaway... The straightaway has got to be a great experience for the fans, to see the speeds, to see the cars be able to draft and then just stop and turn. I know for me it would be awesome.”

Nascar drivers are pretty good. I watched an international event on Speed channel where they had Nascar drivers driving rally cars and they beat alot of other rally car drivers. Quite surprising. Gotta give it to them, they're not all about left turns.

A couple years ago I read an airline magazine on a trip back from the mainland (Delta Airlines I think) and they had a great article about F-1 and it's world wide appeal. What I liked was that they actually interviewed Jeff Gordon for the American perspective. Jeff gave mad props to the F-1 drivers and admitted that he would not be able to compete in that venue.

ever watched them race at Sears Point or Watkins Glen? the number of drivers that crash out at those two races is enough to convince me that most of them don't know how to turn right -- Jeff Gordon is one of the exceptions.
