If a set of the soft tires lasts 20 laps or more this will be a boring season. I thought the idea was that the softs would be a lot quicker but would go off after 5-10 laps to force extra stops?

Both compounds lasted so long it looks like we'll have a season of 1 stoppers.

I never miss a race so I guess we'll have to see if the rest of the season is as disappointing

First I want to say that if you want Drama, watch NASCAR...

Now, if you watched practice you notice that the softs were cooked by lap 5. So why were they lasting 20+ laps in the race? Because the DRIVERS were going easy. I mean they were 6 seconds of the pole lap!

The TEAMS don't want to stop more than they need to, they don't want to get passed because they had to pit. They'd rather stay on track, and I don't blame them.

So why is it not that great of a show? Because the drivers/teams are driving conservative. They are doing this due to the refueling ban, so the real root of the problem is the stupid ****ing rules made by FIA. Also, this new points system is ****ing pointless as well.

that's my $.02

Yeah, what the hell is the deal with that? They said that it wouldn't have really effected anyone's standings in the past few years, so what the hell is the point? So that 9th and 10th don't feel so sad? It reminds me of the "Everyone is a winner" trophies.

I see your point about the tires being managed by conservative driving. They should make those softs fall to pieces after 5 laps, but I doubt Bridgestone would like that kind of PR.

Lets hope the Melbourne track suits the cars a bit better for overtaking opportunities and maybe even a few taking a gamble on qualifying on the harder tires. It's a pity Sutil didn't get a chance to show how well his hard tire choice would work.

Oh, and Schumi getting spanked

Gagan, who are you pulling for this season now Kimi is out? surely your not pulling for Lewis?

heh, I wasn't asking for a drama increase per lap! and I agree with everything you said regarding the refueling situation.

like the new points system. It's harder to follow but it does make the back of the pack a little more interesting to watch. I've already stated it, Alonso and Big red is going to be a powerhouse this year. I'm still pulling for Hamilton. Button can suck the kernels in my ish. I expect to see a lot of Rosberg as well.

conservative is right. maybe later in the year we'll see teams willing to take gambles with pushing hard and having extra stops. it's just the beginning of the year, so i'm sure all the teams are trying to get a feel on where they really slot.

that's why i secretly love NASCAR.
