デジタルカメラ in Japan are hella nice. They're all into the anti shake and the built in wide angle lense. I didn't get one cuz I don't need one. Furthermore, most of those cameras have a huge screen.

very nice camera, major drawback is the giant screen. although nice to view through it eats up batteries like no tommorow. and since the screen is so big theres no room for a viewfinder. on my canon sd500 i turn the screen off when im taking pics and it only shows after i take a pic. my batteries last over 8 hours shooting time, but ofcourse not everyone cares about the tiny stuff like that.

^^^ holy spanglish i dont know WTF you just said.

for night shots you i turn off the flash and hold it steady. image stablizers are good but not always the most dependable.

For what it's worth Sony now has all of the rights to Konica Minolta's SLR stuff, KM got out of the camera business, so Sony does make cameras. Thing to watch out for with high ISOs on point and shoots is their noise handling characteristics, ISO 800 on an SLR is very different from 800 on a compact camera. My compact Pentax is noisier at 100 than my D50 is at 1600, but they're totally different cameras, the Pentax doesn't need the high ISOs like the D50 does. Check out dp review before you buy.

canon sd450? $266

i have an sd100 from 2004. works fine, but it's getting dated. i've dropped it on solid marble, and it still works a-ok! picture quality is good too

I second this one. You can fully adjust it your self or have automatic everything. Its not that big, just not as slim as the others. Very worth the money. Cleanest pictures I've ever took...
