What do you guys think about the rumor that Colin Mcrae might replace Freddy Loix at Peugot midway through the season?

I don't think it'll happen.
McRae is focused on LeMans and trying to do a few Rally Raids with Nissan to prepare for next years Dakar.
Peugeot already signed Rovanpera for Mexico and New Zealand, and they said they are keeping him on a per-event basis, so he could show up for more.
They've also publicly said that they were really impressed with Hennig Solberg's performance in Sweden, and they might give him a rally or two in a 307 scoring manufacturers points.

yeah, there probably are -- i just have't heard them yet. the rumors range from him coming to Subaru, to him driving for everyone under the sun save for Citroen. we should almost have a betting pool on some of those....

The new Impreza WRC 2004 has been officially announced
Of note, lighter bodyshell, plastic side windows, new aero package, new electronics system, new pedal box, new rear diff, new turbo and new cooling system.
The WRC2004 is the result of a 14-month re-design carried out by ex-Ferrari engineer Ed Wood, but despite extensive changes, a lengthy test programme is expected to ensure that it is reliable from the outset.

Yes rally fans - it's back on after a long hiatus (this thread, not the WRC)!
The Rally New Zealand was this past weekend, and Petter won it, but only just barely! Who says that SuperSpecials don't count? With the margin of victory being mere seconds, I think that the big boy teams had better start paying attention to every inch of stage milage on the rally!

this is the first time that i can remember where a super special stage actually figured (at least a bit) into the final results. hell, the super special knocked out both Mitsubishi cars!
it'll be interesting to see how cars survive in the next rally -- Cyprus, a known car breaker.

i bet there are heads that are still rolling at Mitsubishi for that snafu. not even starting the first stage is something you expect from struggling privateer teams, not a factory effort.

Don i'm so happy you made it over the night of the last race. New Zealand is such a great place for racing. Petter just held on and came through with the win. But damn, Peugot was fast when it wasn't of the road.

Rich,
thanks for dinner that night, it was a real treat to hang out and catch the race. New Zealand is such a neat rally, the speed and camber is so impressive. i can hardly wait for Cyprus.
