Wrc Transmission

anyway i was told to come here about this question
and it seems like a really good site

i was wondering exactly what type of transmission the WRC car has
i need a nice bit of detail here too

they use a Prodrive 6-speed electro-hydraulic transmission.

In the "Impreza Story" video put out by Duke Video they talk about the transmission basicly they say you can buy yourself 2 WRX STI for the price of the transmission.

It is a siquenclly operated transmission, that the drivers can shift with the "paddles" on the back of the steering wheel similar to how the F1 cars shift.

and for a useless fact they are not allowed in Open class SCCA racing but are allowed in all other classes, last time i checked they were going for around 60,000 pounds.

actually the S8 trans was not a sequential but a hydraulicly actuated h pattern gear box thoough it is easy to confuse because it is paddle operated and acts like a sequential. For example when other cars spin or have to use revers you will notice that they have to flick down through the gears before they find reverse, in the Subaru Petter or Tommi only has to push a button on the steering wheel because the gears are not sequential and instantly choose reverse. The system is uite advanced.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN I WORK WITH A LOT OF GEAR BOXES
MY COSTOMERS ARE FINDING A LOT OF FAILURES USING RED LINE
SHOCK GEAR OIL IN TRANS. JEST YESTERDAY ONE OF MY GOOD TRANY REBUILDERS IN AUSTRALIA HAS RECIEVED MANNY TRANS IN HIS SHOP WITH BURNED UP OR BROKEN GEAR BOXES ALL HAVE BEEN RUNING RED LINE SHOCK GEAR OILS THESE ARE RALLY
AND STREET CARS WHEN THE TRANY GET WORM THE OIL GETS THICK AND STICKEY CAN'T FLOW HE SAID AFTER A COMPLETE REBUILD HE PUTS NEO SYNTHETIC 75W90HD IN AND SEEN NO PROBLEMS HAS BEEN USING NEO FOR 6 YEARS

THANKS INDY I ALSO HAVE BEEN USING NEO 75-90 HD I FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY WHEN I GOT THE CAR IT HAD RED LINE IN IT
IT ONLY LASTED FOR 2 MONTHS AND THE BOX WAS JUNK I HAD PUT IN A NEW BOX AND SELL THE CAR THAT WAS LAST SUMMER I DID PUT NEO IN IT AND ITS STILL WORKING FINE HE RUNS IT ALL THE TIME
