what in the name of all that is good and sideways in this world is going on??? McRae talking to NASCAR teams? this just makes my head hurt, i think i need to go sit down away from the computer...

 

i think McRae's ego would prevent him from doing that. he's stated that he'd rather not drive, than to drive for a 'second rate team.' my suspiscion is that anything less than a top level championship is not going to interest him. hell, NASAR is a huge step down from WRC in my estimation, i think he'd be better heading to CART.

 

Cart is dead, IRL is dead. The only racing that seems to have a consistent audience is Nascar. That's where the money is for racing in this country.

 

that's depressing. i'd rather watch eight year olds race home built go-karts arround a chalked out cone course in a parking lot than NASCAR.

 

NASCAR ??? Ewwww, I would rather sit in a straight Jacket from a padded Room and watch CNN channel 24 hours a day 7 days a week until I died !!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe what i'm hearing. McRae and nascar. That makes me sick to my stomach. What an A$$hole. He's so stinkin rich as it is way not pick a competive team from the SCCA pro rally of america.

 

NASCRAP! I'd rather watch lawnmower racing...really! I cannot stand NASCRAP and i hate it every time I turn on SPEED CHANNEL and that's all they have. It's a freakin shame I have to stay up till about 1200pm just to watch some real racing. I prefer F1, CART, GT1, GT2, ST series and RALLY. It seems that NASCAR is taking over.....unfortunatley! Maybe if some foreign teams join the pack NASCAR might evolve into something more appealing to the EURO style racing fan and hopefully when the average NASCAR driver gets away from the drunk, redneck, beer-belly image that they have I might like them [NASCAR] a bit more.

 

actually, lawnmower racing is pretty cool. they actually go right sometimes...

 

Problem with NASCAR is that it has to be american made cars, meaning there will never be that european influence...

 

not true! Toyota built a pushrod V8 and is going to be running it in the craftsman truck series next year. they're using it as a development platform for a full on assault on NASCAR. check out a back issue of Roadrace Engineering (sitting on my coffee table right now) for the full scoop if you think i'm kidding.

 

Supposedly it had been so long since Toyota built iron block, or carbureted engines, that they had to dig some old engineers out of the moth ***** to develop their NASCAR engines.

Seriously, I hate NASCAR, but why can't they step into the 20th century and use aluminum blocks and fuel injection? How much more could it possibly cost?

And I really doubt McRae would ever consider stock car racing as a career move.

 

i thought nascar had to be domestics?
