Specialty Subaru Rally Racing Press Realease
The 2004 Season is a wrap for the Specialty Subaru Rally Racing Team. By all accounts a successful season for the new team of Joe Battrick and Owen Parsonage. The Duo led every event they ented this year, winning 1st overall regionally at the Rocky Mountain event, as well as winning there first National event! They then went on to lead the majority of the Mountain Trials event, until a off three stages from the end cost them 52 seconds and the lead. The duo continued on in a badly damged car to take 2nd overall. On to the Big Horn Rally in Alberta. Again leading the event all day for a well deserved 1st overall win,. Notable that Joe and Owen not only beat the fast time on stage 7 but also that the nearest open class car was over 4 minutes behind at the finish. Off to Pacific Forest Rally. The largest National Event in western Canada. After falling behind in the early stages due to bad notes the duo came on strong in stages 6 and 7 winning these stages by 21 and 25 seconds. In second place with the leader squarly in there sights the duo went off on a note missque on stage 8.....Watch for it on Sports Net Nov 15 at 7:00pm "TV 2 Go placed cameras in the car and also had a crew on the next corner so they caught it all....they also have fotage of me rolling around in a cow pattie trying to fix it...ha ha..if nothing else tune in for that.." The damage from this crash was far to substancial to be repaired in time for the Rally of Kananaskis..."myself I had nothing to gain by going. I am sitting securely in 2nd place in the Western Canadian Rally Championship. My point lead over third was enough that no one could catch up..." Owen however needed to run in order to secure his lead as Co-Driver Champion" (Note: Owen ran Chocrane the first event of the season winning there. Joe was unable to attend.) Owen found a seat with Keith Morrison of Calgary Alberta. Finishing the event in 3rd place, Owen secured enough points to become the youngest Co-Driver (17) to ever win the WCRC. As for all concernedJoe and Owen had a impressive shortened season. Joe finnishing Second place in the WCRC DRIVER CHAMPIONSHIP while missing the first and final event's of the season "It all comes down to finances if as a team we had the financing for a full season we would have taken it all" and Owen winning the WCRC CO-DRIVER CHAMPIONSHIP. Many are looking forward to see what this team can do on a National level. "Oh I know we can win the National Championship, we need however the financing to do so .." With this segway.. the team is looking for a markiting partner - title sponsor for the 05 season. "Specialty Subaru has been great to us. but as a dealership it's just not in there budget to commit to a full season at the National level." So on that note...Intrested in seeing what being involved in one of the fastest growing forms of motorsports can do for you?
